What is The Hare Krishna Project?

The Hare Krishna Project is a UK-based national initiative that seeks to share Krishna Consciousness with a new audience. It focuses on those 'hard to reach' areas of the UK where members of the public have never heard of Krishna or the Bhagavad Gita. The team organise Hare Krishna festivals, kirtans and outreach events across the UK.

The project not only preaches but practices the values of equality and inclusion. It allows devotees from across the country to participate, whoever they are or wherever they are from. It's a space for devotees who may feel excluded or that they don’t ‘fit in’ elsewhere. The Hare Krishna Project offers a safe environment for devotees (and non-devotees) to share ideas, receive encouragement and make new friends.

“Devotee means very liberal and kind to everyone” - Srila Prabhupada (Letter, 10/12/72)

The Hare Krishna Project is run by Narada das (Nathan Hartley): A journalist, author and broadcaster based in the UK. He writes on issues connected with the history and sociology of religion, with a specialist interest in Gaudiya Vaishnavism (Hare Krishna).

In 2021 he published The Hare Krishnas in Britain after two years of extensive research. The book looks at the history and diversity of the Hare Krishna Movement in the UK. For more details click here.

He is a regular contributor on national radio, speaking on topics such as Vaishnavism, Interfaith and Community Engagement.
